Join New England native Merrill Gerbus in her musical expression as tUnE-yArDs tonight in The Allen Room, at 8:30 pm.

After a trip to Africa, Merrill Gerbus started appreciating African rhythms and odd vocal techniques, incorporating it into her music, adding layers of ukulele and voice over drum loops that she created on the spot. Venturing out with a bassist and two saxophone players, Merrill Gerbus have created tUnE-yArDs, an African influenced, theatrical, and modern music collaboration. The name tUnE-yArDs came from a lyrics from an old song by Gerbus. “And we’ll fly over tune-yards in our dreams” described a place where songs just grew instead of needing to be concocted and convoluted.
