Tonight, at 8 p.m. you can tune in to PBS to watch the Live From Lincoln Center’s telecast of the New York Philharmonic’s Opening Night Gala conducted by Music Director Alan Gilbert and featuring the world famous violinist Itzhak Perlman. In this video, Alan Gilbert describes the challenge of leading the New York Philharmonic, with its illustrious history of great conductors behind him.

Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts (LCPA) serves three primary roles: presenter of superb artistic programming, national leader in arts and education and community relations, and manager of the Lincoln Center campus. As a presenter of some 5,000 programs and events annually, LCPA’s offerings include American Songbook, Great Performers, Lincoln Center Out of Doors, Midsummer Night Swing, the Mostly Mozart Festival, White Light Festival, and Live From Lincoln Center.
