So said Audra McDonald last night to Charlie Rose in talking about her career on stage and screen, her new album Go Back Home (Nonesuch Records) and her upcoming performance on Live From Lincoln Center.

The New York Philharmonic exquisitely accompanies the cast of Rodger and Hammerstein’s Carousel in a way that no other could.  Says Jessie Mueller (Carrie Pipperidge) of the opening piece “I think The Carousel Waltz is probably one of the most beautiful pieces of music that exists in the musical theater canon” and Stephanie Blythe (Nettie Fowler) adds that “the music is devastatingly beautiful.”
