The New York Philharmonic exquisitely accompanies the cast of Rodger and Hammerstein’s Carousel in a way that no other could. Says Jessie Mueller (Carrie Pipperidge) of the opening piece “I think The Carousel Waltz is probably one of the most beautiful pieces of music that exists in the musical theater canon” and Stephanie Blythe (Nettie Fowler) adds that “the music is devastatingly beautiful.”
This Saturday at 5pm, cellists from the New York Philharmonic, Metropolitan Opera, New York City Ballet and Chamber Music Society come together to perform a rare concert at Lincoln Center’s Rose Studio. The concert-with music of Tavener, Gabrieli, Carter, Part, Stravinsky and Villa-Lobos-may be sold out, but there’s a still a way in to see this unique event: live webcast.
